Welcome to Indian Pilgrimage!

Pilgrimage is an inherent part of every Indian. India is a vast country with diverse cultures and ancient civilization. There are a number of religious groups residing in India. India has one of the oldest and most deep-rooted pilgrimage traditions in the whole world. The practice of pilgrimage in India is deeply embedded in the cultural psyche and the number of pilgrimage sites is so large that the entire subcontinent may actually be regarded as one grand ocean of sacred sites.

Indian traditions are based on core beliefs that are deeply engrained in our mindset .It is a blend of religious commitment and a quest for spiritual philosophy. The whole process of remembering saints, taking guidance from holy people, performing religious rites, an exercise of uplifting oneself or even just making it a memorable experience come as an after effect of natural affection for the country. There are around 350 sacred sites spanning the sub-continent. Since the time of the Puranas, the number of sacred sites had been growing considerably, reflecting both the continuous assimilation of aboriginal sacred places and the growing importance of pilgrimage as a customary religious practice.

Ancient India

The History of India begins with the Indus Valley Civilization and the coming of the Aryans.

These two phases are generally described as the pre-Vedic and Vedic periods. The earliest literary source that sheds light on India's past is the Rig Veda. It is difficult to date this work with any accuracy on the basis of tradition and ambiguous astronomical information contained in the hymns. It is most likely that Rig Veda was composed between 1,500 B.C. and 1,000 B.C. In the fifth century, large parts of India were united under Ashoka.

The 6th Century B.C. was a period of great tumult in India. The kingdom of Magadha, one of the 16 great Janapadas had become paramount over other kingdoms of the Ganges Valley. This period also saw the emergence of various heterodox sects in India. This was the time when Buddhism and Jainism emerged as popular protestant movements to pose a serious challenge to Brahmanic orthodoxy.

For the next 400 years (after Mauryas), India witnessed political upheaval. It was then, in the age of the Gupta dynasty, that unprecedented flowering of art ,culture and science returned and saw the emergence of temple architecture.

The spirit of Bhakti pervaded the whole of India and found vivid and beautiful expression in religious poetry of medieval saints and mystics, no matter which religious faith they followed. Their literary compositions rendered into Geet, Quawali, Ardas etc united people as nothing else could have done.

It is our endeavor to make your journey and experience a pleasurable one!
